Setting the File Placement Rule dialog box options
Use this dialog box to specify which folder file types
should be stored relative to pages in your website.
Enter or modify the file extensions you want to specify
for placement.
File extensions take the form .abc;
to enter more than one file extension, use commas to delimit your
entries. For example, to specify Microsoft Office documents, type
.doc. To specify a series of image file types, type: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif,
.png.
Specify where to place the dependent file:
- Same Folder As Draft
- Places files of the specified type into the draft folder
of the page to which you’re linking or adding the file.
- Folder Next To Each Web Page
- Specifies a folder relative to the page that the file type
is being linked to.
For example, you might specify that any
image file added to a page be placed in a folder labeled Image.
A folder labelled Image is then created, relative to each web page
into which users insert an image file. This folder stores all image
files added to that page.
- Specific Folder On Your Website
- Specifies a single folder in the site in which to place the
file type that is being linked to.
For example, you can specify
a folder labeled Documents into which all Microsoft Office and Acrobat
PDF documents are placed when linked to a page. This folder stores
all of the Microsoft Office and Acrobat PDF documents added to any
page in the site.
You can either enter the path to the folder
or click the Browse button to browse to a folder in the site.
- Write Links Relative To The Root Of The Website
- Specifies that Contribute create site-root relative links
to files. Site-root-relative links (or paths) provide the path from
the site’s root folder to a document. You might want to use this
type of path if you’re deploying Contribute on a large website that
uses more than one server, or one server that hosts several websites.
If
you don’t specify links relative to the root of the website, Contribute
uses document-relative links. These links (or paths) are the most
appropriate paths to use for local links in most websites.
Click OK.
The file type and the location in which it’s
to be placed appear in the list of file types.
