Providing your website’s URL

The purpose of this dialog box is to provide information about the web address (URL) of your website or the server running CPS.

The web address you specify should be the root of the website, that is the highest point in the directory structure that a user is allowed to edit. In some cases, this may be the entire website (for example, www.mysite.com). However, in certain cases, if you are administering a website, you may want to restrict a permission group to editing only a subsection of the website. For example, if a group cannot edit web pages only in the marketing section of the website, the highest point you might give them access to may be www.mysite.com/marketing.

To provide your website’s web address:

Enter the web address (URL) of the website.

If you aren’t sure of the exact web address of the website, click the Browse button and browse to the main page of your website.

Note: If the web address you enter cannot be verified, a dialog box prompts you to confirm that you are entering the correct address. You can use this dialog box to confirm a web address that does not yet exist but that you intend to create later (for example, you may not yet have created a subfolder under the site’s root).

If your organization uses CPS, you can enter the URL of your server to set up a connection. If you don’t know the URL, contact your system administrator for information on connecting to CPS.

Contribute expands the server name you enter to the full URL for the server running CPS. For example, if you enter connect:cpsserver, Contribute expands the full URL to https://cpsserver:8900/contribute/.

To provide your server web address for CPS:

Enter the URL of the server you want to connect to.
