Setting the Style and Fonts options in the Role Settings dialog box
Use the Styles and Fonts category to control whether typographic
styles and fonts appear in the Contribute toolbar and which kinds
of typographical styles users can apply to text.
Select the method by which Contribute users can (or cannot)
apply styles to text from the Style support pop-up menu. The style
options are as follows:
- Don’t Allow Users To
Create Styles
- Prohibits users from creating styles. Users cannot modify
any text or style formatting options.
- HTML Tags
- Lets you determine whether users can create HTML styles, and
to what degree they can modify and apply styles on the website.
- Document-level CSS
- Lets you determine whether users can create CSS styles in
the document, and to what degree they can apply CSS styles from existing
CSS style sheets.
Change the Styles options as necessary:
If the Allow
users to apply styles option is selected, users can apply heading and
paragraph styles using the Contribute editor toolbar or menu commands. If
this option is deselected, the user cannot apply new paragraph styles.
- Include HTML heading styles (<h1>, ...) in the
Style menu
- specifies that the standard HTML Paragraph, Heading1, Heading2,
Heading 3, Heading 4, Heading 5, and Heading 6 tags are available
in the Style menu.
- Include CSS styles in the Style menu
- specifies that CSS styles appear in the Style
menu.
- Show all CSS styles
- specifies that all CSS styles, whether they are in the document
or are referenced in styles, appear in the Style menu.
- Show only CSS styles included in this CSS file
- lets you limit the CSS styles visible to users in the Style
menu by specifying a specific CSS file that you create. To let all
roles have access to the same CSS styles, use a single CSS file;
to make only certain CSS styles available to users in a role, create
an individual CSS file for each role.
Note: To prevent a CSS
style from being available to Contribute users, the page designer
can change the name of the style so that the name starts with “mmhide” (without
quotation marks). For example, if you use a style named RightJustified
on a page but you don’t want Contribute users to use that style,
rename the style to mmhideRightJustified. For more information,
see “Setting Up a Site for Use with Contribute” in Dreamweaver MX
2004 Help.
- Allow users to apply fonts and sizes (displays the
Font and Size menu)
- activates the font and style menu in the Contribute editor
toolbar. This lets users select the fonts and font sizes to use
on the page. If this option is not selected, Contribute uses the
font styles and sizes defined in the page’s HTML source code.
- Apply sizes using
- lets you select the unit of measure to display in the Contribute
editor toolbar: points, pixels, or ems. This option is available
only if you selected Document-level CSS from the Style support pop-up
menu.
- Allow users to apply bold, italic, underline, strikethrough,
and fixed width styles
- activates the bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, and
fixed width style options in the Formatting menu and lets the user
apply these options to text.
- Allow users to apply font color and background color
- activates the Text Color and Highlight Color options in the
Formatting menu and lets the user apply these options to text.
