Exporting

Use the File > Export command to export all or part of an InDesign document to other formats. These formats include the following:

Text
You can save all or part of an InDesign story in file formats that you can open later in other applications. InDesign can export text in several file formats, which are listed in the Export dialog box. The formats listed are used by other applications, and they may retain many of the type specifications, indents, and tabs set in your document.

JPEG
JPEG uses a standardized image compression mechanism to compress full-color or grayscale images for on-screen display. Use the Export command to export a page, spread, or selected object in JPEG format.

Dreamweaver (XHTML)
Export a selection or the entire document to a basic, unformatted HTML document. You can link to images on a server or create a separate folder for images. You can then use any HTML editor, such as Adobe Dreamweaver® or Adobe GoLive®, to format the content for the web.

Digital Editions (XHTML)
You can export a document or book as a reflowable XHTML-based eBook that is compatible with the Adobe Digital Editions reader software.

SWF
When you export a document as a Flash file, you can set the output size, specify the pages to include, and make various conversion and compression choices. The exported SWF file is ready to be played in Flash Player. Add buttons and page transitions to create a more dynamic SWF file.

XFL
Exporting a document as an XFL file is an intermediate step. After you export to XFL format, use the Flash authoring environment to add video, audio, animation, and complex interactivity.

GoLive
Copying content from InDesign is a quick way to get formatted text, tables, and graphics into Adobe GoLive®. Formatting is preserved as much as possible. For a more systematic approach to repurpose content for GoLive, export to XHTML or use an XML workflow.
