Background Options

Background options define the encoding requirements for the background layer of an image. When an image is segmented, the background generally contains pictures, photographs, and other elements that are smoothe and variably colored. Because spatial resolution is less emphasized, background objects are encoded at one-third the resolution (typically 100 dpi). For more information, see Segmentation Process.
