This file contains important last-minute information about LabVIEW 7.1 for Windows, including installation and upgrade issues, compatibility issues, and changes from LabVIEW 7.0. Refer to the LabVIEW Upgrade Notes for more information about upgrade and compatibility issues and for a complete list of new features in LabVIEW 7.1. Refer to the LabVIEW Release Notes for installation instructions. You can access both of these documents by selecting Help»Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf in LabVIEW.
Refer to the National Instruments Web site for the latest information about LabVIEW 7.1.
Supported Platforms
LabVIEW supports Windows 2000/NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 or later/XP. LabVIEW does not support Windows Me/98/95.
- The example VIs in the labview\examples\instr\smplserl.llb were removed and replaced with new examples.
- The DAQmx Assist label on the Functions palette changed to DAQ Assist.
- If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed, a Security Alert dialog box appears when you launch LabVIEW or the NI Example Finder for the first time. If you select the Keep blocking this program option, the LabVIEW VI Server, LabVIEW Web Server, and any server written in LabVIEW cannot accept incoming connections from a remote computer. Select the Unblock this program, despite the security risk option to configure your computer to launch LabVIEW without any changes in functionality. Refer to the KnowledgeBase for more information about correcting this problem.
- If you have VI Logger 1.1 or earlier installed and you install LabVIEW 7.1, LabVIEW might crash when you use the VI Logger VIs in LabVIEW. After you install LabVIEW and restart your computer, a dialog box appears with instructions for installing VI Logger 1.1.1 from the LabVIEW installation CD to avoid a crash.
- When you use the Storage VIs, you might notice flashing letters on the block diagram.
- If you move the Advanced Storage VIs to a LabVIEW development system with a different language, the VIs do not work because the object types and property names do not match the names in other languages. To correct this problem, use the internal, language-independent object types and property names. Refer to the KnowledgeBase for more information about correcting this problem.
- If you create a new, untitled VI while using the Storage VIs, the numbering of the untitled VI might be inconsistent.
- If you are using VI Analyzer 1.0 with LabVIEW 7.1, you must download VI Analyzer 1.0f1. Refer to the KnowledgeBase for more information.
- If you install Math Interface Toolkit 1.0 in a LabVIEW directory other than the LabVIEW 7.0 directory, MIT 1.0 does not work and the Application Builder creates DLLs that you cannot call. To correct this problem, launch the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel, select National Instruments Software, and repair the version of LabVIEW in which you installed MIT 1.0. Refer to the KnowledgeBase for more information about correcting this problem.
- If you are using the LabVIEW 7.0 PDA Module with the f1 patch installed, you might experience problems if you uninstall LabVIEW 7.1 and then launch LabVIEW 7.0. To correct this problem, you must uninstall LabVIEW 7.1 and then reinstall the f1 patch for the LabVIEW 7.0 PDA Module using a force install option. Refer to the KnowledgeBase for more information about correcting this problem.
