If you have purchased a network version of Mathcad 2001i Professional, refer to this file for system requirements and installation instructions. If you have not purchased a network version, refer to the Mathcad Release Notes (RELNOTES.HTM) for information.
If you have purchased a network license, you may install Mathcad 2001i Professional on a networked computer, and you may provide access to as many end users as you have purchased licenses from MathSoft, Inc. You will need the Mathcad 2001i Professional CD to install Mathcad 2001i Professional on a network server and to copy client setup files to that network server. Subsequently, you will run a setup program from the network server to configure individual client machines to run Mathcad from the server.

===============================================================
· Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP, or higher.
· Pentium or compatible CPU, 233 MHz or higher.
· Minimum 64 MB of RAM. Additional memory is recommended for improved performance.
· Windows 98/ME or higher, or Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP or higher.
· Pentium or compatible CPU, 233 MHz or higher.
· At least 64 megabytes of memory. Additional memory is recommended for improved performance.
· SVGA or higher graphics card and monitor required. 256 color display required. Higher than 256 color display recommended.
· At least 120 MB of disk space. 618 MB is needed for full installation of all products.
· For improved performance and full functionality of online Help, installation of Internet Explorer 4.0, service pack 2, or higher is required. Internet Explorer does not need to be your default browser.
· The Excel, MATLAB, S-PLUS, Axum, and SmartSketch components in Mathcad require specific versions of the associated product. See the Requirements for Application Components section of the Mathcad Release Notes for more information.
The Mathcad installation CD contains the following:
· A single-user installation program for Mathcad and associated online Help and Resource Center files. The network administrator should run the program SETUP.EXE on this CD, and subsequently run the SETUP.EXE installed on the network server for client installations, instead of running SETUP.EXE from the installation CD.
· The installation program for IBM’s techexplorerä Hypermedia Browser. techexplorerä is a plug-in for your web browser that allows you to view Mathcad files that are saved in HTML with embedded MathML format. MathML is a markup language that displays mathematical expressions.
· The installation program for the Solving and Optimization Extension Pack (SOEP).
· The installation program for VisSim Plus, a simulation software package from Visual Solutions.
· The installation program for Autodesk Volo View Express. Volo View assists you in inserting AutoCAD files into a Mathcad worksheet even if you do not have AutoCAD installed.
· The installation program for Internet Explorer 6.
· The installation program for online documentation, which consists of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 and a version of the Mathcad User’s Guide with Reference Manual in PDF format (requires Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or higher).
1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. The first time you do this, the CD will automatically start the installation program. If the installation program does not start automatically, you can start it by choosing Run from the Start menu and typing D:\SETUP (where “D:” is your CD-ROM drive). Click “OK.”
2. Click the Mathcad icon on the main installation screen.
3. When prompted, enter your name, company name, and product serial number. The serial number is located on the back of the CD case.
4. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions. For an installation destination select a shared network resource (or create one) for which the administrator has write privileges.
Note: You must type a path of the form \\networkserver\networkshare in order to specify a network location, unless you have a mapped drive, in which case you can browse to the location.
This procedure installs a complete shared copy of Mathcad in the installation destination, including online Help, Resource Center files, and sample files.
Copy the following folders to the network server for access from end user machines. These programs can only be installed to end user machines: \TECHEXPLORER, \SOLVE, \VISSIM, and \AUTODESK.
You must run an end-user setup program on every workstation that will run Mathcad, even if the client workstations are accessing a shared network Mathcad installation.
1. Access the network share created by the Administrator during the network setup (see above) and run the program SETUP.EXE located in the network installation location to launch the Setup Wizard. Do not run the program SETUP.EXE on the Mathcad installation CD.
2. If you have purchased a Concurrent Network license, run the command setup /v"ADDSOURCE=MainProgram" making sure there is no space between the /v and the string "ADDSOURCE=MainProgram". The string "ADDSOURCE=MainProgram" is case sensitive and must be typed as it appears in these instructions. This will set up Mathcad so that all users will run Mathcad from the shared network location.
3. If you have purchased a Nonconcurrent Network license, simply run the command setup to install a local copy of Mathcad on each computer.
4. When prompted, enter a name and company name.
5. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions. For an installation destination select a local directory for which the end-user has write privileges. This is required since the user will maintain a private spell-checking dictionary and will maintain a local default directory for File Open and File Save operations, among other functions.
Access the network share created by the Administrator during the network setup and run the program TE3231PRO.EXE located in the \TECHEXPLORER folder on the network to launch the Setup Wizard. Do not run the program SETUP.EXE on the Mathcad installation CD.
Access the network share created by the Administrator during the network setup and run the program SETUP.EXE located in the \SOLVE folder on the network to launch the Setup Wizard. Do not run the program SETUP.EXE on the Mathcad installation CD.
Access the network share created by the Administrator during the network setup and run the program INSTALL.EXE located in the \VISSIM folder on the network to launch the Setup Wizard. Do not run the program SETUP.EXE on the Mathcad installation CD.
Access the network share created by the Administrator during the network setup and run the program VOLOVEM.EXE located in the \AUTODESK folder on the network to launch the Setup Wizard. Do not run the program VOLOVEM.EXE on the Mathcad installation CD.
Some components, such as the online documentation files provided in Adobe Acrobat format, are not copied to local workstations during client installation. End users may access these resources from the network installation of Mathcad or may copy them individually to local workstations.
· For more information, be sure to read the Mathcad Release Notes, which are located in the Mathcad installation folder on the local workstation.
· The Resource Center inside Mathcad contains a wealth of information about Mathcad including a variety of tutorials, Reference Tables, sample worksheets, and QuickSheet templates with built-in formulas. Choose Resource Center from the Help menu.
· The Mathcad Collaboratory is a free Internet forum for sharing ideas and files with other Mathcad users, accessible from right within Mathcad. Click on the Collaboratory button from the main page of the Resource Center.
· Online Help is available in Mathcad. Also, see the Developer’s Reference for information about components, Automation, and creating User DLLs; see the Author’s Reference for information about publishing worksheets on the Web and creating Electronic Books.
· Sample Mathcad files that use components are provided in the \SAMPLES folder in the location where you installed Mathcad. See README.RTF in that folder for more information on the sample files.
· Visit the Mathcad web site for sample Mathcad worksheets, updates, and support information. Click the mathcad.com button in the Mathcad Resource Center, or visit http://www.mathcad.com/ with your favorite browser.
