Math Styles

Each name or number in an expression is assigned a math style. This lets you change the font characteristics of many names and numbers at once.

A Math style consists of a font, size and style such as bold. All variables (letters) are assigned a math style named "Variables." Similarly, all constants (numbers) are assigned a math style named "Constants." Math Text Font applies to all graph labels.

To see which math style is currently assigned, click on the letter or number and look at the math style window on the Formatting toolbar or choose Equation from the Format menu.

Changing the Look of a Math Style

  1. Choose Equation from the Format menu.

  2. In the dialog box, choose a math style such as variables.

  3. Click on "Modify" and choose the font characteristics you want.

All variables in your worksheet are modified accordingly.

  3. In the dialog box, there are several predefined math styles. You can create a new style by editing the User math styles.

Modifying a Math Style

  2. In the dialog box, choose the style whose properties you want to change. The name of the selected style appears in the "Style Name" text box. Unless you want to change the look of everything associated with that style, you should edit User math styles.

  3. Change the style name to something you'll remember by typing it into the "New Style Name" text box.

  4. Click on "Modify" and choose the font characteristics you want.
